Contrary to the market speculations, the official broadcaster of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) Star Sports has declared that they are well ahead of the sales targets on the 13th edition of the IPL. 

 

According to the Star Sports CEO Gautam Thakar 75% inventory on IPL 2020 has already been sold out. In an interview to ET, Thakar claimed that on IPL 2020, broadcaster has already signed 60 advertisers including 15 Sponsors. 

 

“We have sold about 75% of total inventory and are well ahead of our IPL 2020 targets”, Thakar told ET. 

 

He further added, “We have 15 sponsors and 60 advertisers on board and currently we are in advanced stage with a few categories for associate sponsorships and many more for spot buys”

 

As reported earlier by InsideSport, Star India has already signed Co-Presenting partnerships with Amazon, PhonePe, Dream11 and Byju’s. All Co-Presenting partnerships have been signed in the range of 120-140 Cr

 

Other than Star India has also signed with brands like 

 

Other than this ITC Foods, Polycab, Asian Paints, Coca Cola, MRF, Mondolez, Kamala Pasand, AMFI, Procter & Gamble and few others have been roped in as Associate sponsors of the league. The Associate sponsorships as per InsideSport understanding has been sold for 50-70 Cr range. 

 

Star India has also roped in advertisers like Colgate, Mobile Premier League, MyTeam11, Hyundai, GlaxoSmith Kline (GSK), Indigo Paints for Spot-Buys. 

 

FMCG is the category which according to Thakar is investing big on IPL 2020.

Star India, has also predicted massive increase in the viewership for IPL 2020 which according to Disney Star India Chairman has already become a very ‘unique IPL and will create global benchmark’. Shankar had recently predicted that IPL 2020 will deliver 550Mn+ audiences in India alone.

Shankar also gave insight into the Star India’s broadcast & production plans for IPL 2020. He disclosed that IPL 2020 will see 90 commentators, seven fully customized broadcast feeds across languages and 18 hours of live and special programming throughout the day.

“Viewership has never been an issue with IPL. I can only hope it’s bigger than ever. There will be seven fully customized broadcast feeds across languages and 18 hours of live and special programming. with 90 commentators. We expect TV viewership of 550 million+ in India across live broadcast and beyond live programming and the broadcast to be distributed in over 100 countries”, said Star India’s boss in the interview to TOI.
