It’s troublesome to explain the funky, enjoyable and utterly sudden present that was James Darrah’s Cabaret: 1979 at Hahn Hall final night time. Part spectacular vocal showcase for the Music Academy’s Summer Fellows — a number of of whom I acknowledged from La boheme — and half Seventies period Saturday Night Live meets TV Funhouse — full with homages to exhibits like The Love Boat and Three’s Company, in addition to commercials from that period, together with the pop rock music, in fact.

It was a retro cabaret night of tune, skits and silliness, from the thoughts of director and school member James Darrah.
