A joint of team of police, Army and CRPF had been engaging the terrorists in Drangbal area of Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district since Saturday morning. The search operation was launched after receiving information about the presence of some Lashkar terrorists in the area, an official said.

LeT terrorist Umar Mustaq Khandey, who was behind the killings of two policemen, SgCT Mohd Yousf and Ct Suhail Ah in Baghat, was among the ones killed, police said.
Khandey’s name figured in the list of top 10 terrorists who the security forces were targeting since August this year.
Another unidentified terrorist was also killed in the Pampore encounter, a police official said, adding that arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot.
“13 terrorists killed in 9 encounters after the civilian killings. We have neutralised 3 out of 5 terrorists of Srinagar city in less than 24 hours,” said IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.
On Friday, another two terrorists suspected of involvement in the recent attacks on civilians, were gunned down in separate encounters in Bemina area of Srinagar, and at Wahibug in Pulwama.
