Author JK Rowling won’t face any police motion after a criticism that she ‘misgendered’ trans broadcaster India Willoughby was thrown out.

Ms Willoughby, a newsreader and Loose Women presenter, contacted the police on Monday over an internet submit by which the Harry Potter creator referred to her as a person.

A Northumbria Police spokesman mentioned: ‘While we recognise the upset this will have prompted, the submit was reviewed and didn’t meet the felony threshold.’

Ms Willoughby beforehand claimed Ms Rowling ‘undoubtedly dedicated a crime‘. 

In an interview with Byline TV, she mentioned: ‘I’m legally a girl. She is aware of I’m a girl, and he or she calls me a person.’

Posting on X, the author mentioned no regulation compelled her to discuss with the broadcaster as a girl.

She additionally mentioned legal professionals had beforehand suggested she might sue Ms Willoughby for ‘defamation’.

In an internet dialog about all-female altering rooms, Ms Rowling mentioned Ms Willoughby ‘was only a man revelling in his misogynistic efficiency of what he thinks ‘lady’ means: narcissistic, shallow and exhibitionist’.

Ms Willoughby mentioned the feedback had led to a ‘disgusting’ on-line backlash.
