Syracuse, N.Y. — Le Moyne College’s fall and winter sports seasons were put on hold Thursday afternoon as its Northeast 10 Conference voted to postpone all athletics through at least Dec. 31 in response to the coronavirus.

The league said it will try to move fall sports to the spring of 2021.

“The NE10 considers the health and safety of its student-athletes, coaches, administrators, staff and wider campus communities to be of paramount importance. Despite each institutions’ planning over the past few months and the conference’s collective efforts to forge a path forward, it has become clear that we are not able to conduct outside competition at this time in a manner that is consistent with the prioritization of our campus’ collective well-being,” the league said in a statement.

Le Moyne is a Division II school whose fall sports include men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s golf (championship played in the spring) and women’s tennis (championship played in the spring). Initial plans for spring competition of fall sports will be announced at a later date.

The league said it will also try to provide a regular season schedule and/or conference championships for winter teams that run into the spring semester, if possible. Dolphins’ winter sports include men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and men’s and women’s indoor track and field.

Practice and training opportunities will be determined by each school, adhering to NCAA policies and state public health regulations.

The NE-10 is comprised of Adelphi, American International, Assumption, Bentley, Franklin Pierce, Le Moyne, New Haven, Pace, Saint Anselm, Saint Michael’s, The College of Saint Rose, Southern Connecticut State, Southern New Hampshire and Stonehill.
