Williamson County legislators announced a combined total of $2,775 will be awarded to the Spring Hill Public Library and Williamson County Public Library to assist in meeting increased demand for access to technology during the COVID-19 pandemic.

State Reps. Glen Casada, Sam Whitson and Brandon Ogles and state Sen. Jack Johnson in a joint statement praised local libraries that have faced many new challenges while working to meet the needs of the public during the pandemic.

“Our public libraries have never been more important to our citizens,” the statement read. “These funds will help put resources and technology into the hands that need it. We greatly appreciate the efforts of all our local libraries and their staff for working to better serve our residents and providing greater access for everyone in Williamson County.”

The Tennessee State Library and Archives grants are made possible from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES) passed earlier this year. The funds support technology expansion as well as supplies to keep library staff and visitors safe.

The Spring Hill Public Library will receive $1,026 for equipment and videoconferencing enhancements. The Williamson County Public Library will receive $1,749 for supplies, videoconferencing and WiFi.
