Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were put in to bat by Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson after winning the toss in Sharjah in match 54 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on Thursday. RR made four changes for this match, bringing in Liam Livingstone, Jaydev Unadkat, Chris Morris and Anuj Rawat in place of Even Lewis, David Miller, Kuldip Yadav, Shreyas Gopal. For KKR, Lockie Ferguson replaced Tim Southee. KKR are coming into this game with a six-wicket win over SunRisers Hyderabad while Rajasthan Royals were blown away in their previous fixture by the defending champions Mumbai Indians. KKR are currently tied on 12 points with Mumbai Indians on the IPL 2021 points table but they occupy the fourth spot thanks to their superior net run-rate.
