Technology program for high school students 

ZANESVILLE — The 2021 TECHCORPShark event will be Nov. 6 at Zane State College for students in ninth to 12fth grades. 

No prior technology experience is required as one goal of the program is to provide a safe and supportive environment where students can learn more about technology. Students learn how to use a mobile app development tool and receive support and guidance from technology volunteers from the community. 

High school students from Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties can register at bit.ly/21tchack. Technology professionals are needed as volunteers at the hackathon. To learn more, visit bit.ly/21tchvol.

Bucci and Dietz Artist Award applications available

ZANESVILLE — Applications for the Ronna Bucci and Dr. Charles Dietz Artist Award through the Muskingum County Community Foundation are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 1. 

The winner will be announced Dec. 3 during the Artist Colony of Zanesville’s First Friday event at the ZAAP Gallery. The Bucci – Dietz Artist Fund typically awards one $500 grant each year to an adult artist in the community to be used to further their career. It may be used for supplies, materials, exhibition fees, seminars, conferences and other activities.

Mid-East board to meet

ZANESVILLE — The Mid-East Career and Technology Centers board of education will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the administrative center, 400 Richards Road. 

Community shred day planned

ZANESVILLE — Good Deeds Arbor of Gleaner Life Insurance Society and Matson Retirement Planning will offer a community shred day from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 30 in the Matson Retirement parking lot, 1166 Military Road. 

Baked goods will be available from JavaMomo Cakery. Shredding is by Allshred Services. Shredding is free, but donations will be accepted for the Christmas Boxes for the Troops program.

Genesis cancer event on Facebook

ZANESVILLE — Genesis HealthCare System will present Puzzled by Cancer, a Spirit of Women event, at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 on Facebook. 

Dr. Vamsi Koduri, hematologist/oncologist and medical eirector of Genesis Cancer Services, will put the pieces together to answer essential cancer questions. There will also be a special magic and comedy presentation by the Ohio Lottery’s “Cash Explosion” game show host David McCreary.
