Sandburg gets sweep at Knox
GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team put together a dominant performance in a 25-15, 25-8, 25-22 sweep against Knox on Monday night at Memorial Gym.
In defeating the NCAA Division III Prairie Fire, the Chargers (12-9) got a team-high 10 kills from sophomore Carley Reeves-Eakins, who hit .320 for the match. Reeves-Eakins also led Sandburg with four blocks.
Lauren Erke had 13 digs and seven kills for the Chargers. Jasmin McDaniel and Gracie Rademacker each added a dozen digs.
Setter Carmyn Baldwin had 31 of Sandburg’s 35 assists on the night. Reeves-Eakins, Erke, McDaniel, Megan Crome and Jadyn Swan each had an ace for Sandburg.
Catessa Duran led the Fire with 10 kills for a .240 attack percentage. Emme Patton added 19 digs and Olivia Hukel tallied 11 assists. Anne McKim also chipped in a pair of blocks for Knox.
GALESBURG GIRLS TENNIS
Streaks fall to Bombers
GALESBURG — The Galesburg High School girls tennis team fell to Macomb 6-3 on Monday evening at the Art Fish Memorial Courts.
The Silver Streaks’ wins came in singles play. Sariah Simmons beat the Bombers’ Kylie Jacques 6-1, 6-4 in No. 2 action, Kaidence Wilson defeated Macomb’s Kiley Daniels 6-4 , 6-1 in No. 3 singles, and the Streaks’ Abbie McCartney downed the Bombers’ Olivia Duncan 7-6 (5), 6-1.
