A leading technology company is hoping to set up in the North East, with plans to create around 25 jobs.

Made Tech, which has offices in London, Manchester and Bristol, is a spcialist in public sector technology delivery, working with a number of Government departments, local authorities and NHS hospital trusts.

The company’s chief executive Rory MacDonald has set his sights on the North East for expansion, in the hope of taking advantage of the region’s large public sector organisations, as well as the skills of its university graduates.

He said: “We’re actively looking at the North East and looking to hire somebody there early next year to lead the North East as a region for us. We’re really interested in the North East.

“There’s a few things that attract us to the region. The North East has always been an area of interest for us and there are a few reasons. Firstly, there are a whole bunch of Government departments and public sector bodies that have a significant presence in the North East, and given that we serve that market, being in close proximity to them is really important to us.

“Secondly, we see there is a gap in the market for what we take to market. We see some rather large firms in the North East, but there are not too many of our size that are servicing that market. We think there is an opportunity in that market and we’re well placed to capture it.

“The other thing is we see strong talent coming out the universities and there is a real desire from what we can see to remain in the region so we think we can offer quite a compelling employment proposition to graduates and the wider market.”

Made Tech was founded in 2012 and initially helped start-ups to to build products fast using lean and agile principles. Since 2016, it has been supporting public sector organisations to adapt their skills, capabilities and ways of working to deliver better outcomes for the public.

Recent projects include helping HMRC to progress its digital tax platform, and developing new recruitment platforms for both the NHS and the Department for Education.
