Ram Navami was celebrated with conventional fervour on Thursday in Maharashtra’s Nashik district, with a big crowd of devotees gathering on the famend Shree Kalaram Temple in Panchavati, the place it’s believed the Lord stayed throughout his 14-year exile.

‘Maha-aarti’, kirtan and different rituals related to the delivery of Lord Ram was held since midnight and ‘maha prasad’ was distributed, a temple functionary stated.

There was a large presence of police and volunteers for crowd administration and management at Shree Kalaram Temple in addition to different locations of worship like Goraram temple in Ravivar Karanja, Ahilya Ram temple in Golaghat, Kodandadhari Ram temple in Gangapur Road and Shriram temple in Old CIDCO.

The well-known Ram Rath procession can be held on Saturday, the functionary stated.
