Lebanon Mayor Matt Gentry has scheduled a news conference this morning to announce a new development planned for the site of the former Holiday Inn at Ind. 39 and Interstate 65, across from the Flying J gas station.

The announcement is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.

The announcement is billed as “Mayor Gentry broadens Lebanon’s economic development scope with a massive multi-sport, residential and entertainment campus.” Also present will be the CEO of Card and Associates, LLC, a developer with projects such as the Grand Park Fieldhouse in Westfield, now known as Pacers Athletic Center, and Finch Creek Fieldhouse in Noblesville.

According to the company’s website, Card and Associates offers a variety of services from feasibility studies to partnering with municipalities to build – even operate – these types of athletic or fitness facilities. In Pendleton, the company unveiled Community Sports and Wellness Center which includes fitness, rehab, tennis, gymnastics, a small café, and medical office space.

The announcement will likely outline the partnership with Card and what will be developed.

There has been plenty of speculation about the site of the former Holiday Inn hotel which was touted as the Holidome. Originally built 52 years ago, the hotel closed in 2008 as a Quality Inn.

The announcement comes as the more than 2,000-acre Waterford development by Henke and Associates gets started south of the city.
