At the beginning of October 2023, inexperienced conifers and golden aspen coated the slopes of Monroe Mountain in Utah’s Fishlake National Forest. Then, beginning on October 9, these forests turned black as hearth labored its means throughout the mountain. Flames and smoke had been seen for miles.
