Rishikesh: A 47-year-old man allegedly killed his mom, spouse and three daughters by slitting their throats in Ranipokhari space right here on Monday, police stated. Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Nagagher, has been arrested and is being interrogated, they stated.

Kumar allegedly killed his mom Bitan Devi (75), spouse Nitu Devi (36) and three daughters — Aparna, Swarna and Annapurna — after providing his every day prayers, the SP stated, including the explanation for the killings is but to be ascertained. Dehradun Superintendent of Police (rural) Kamlesh Upadhyay stated a blood-smeared knife has been recovered from the spot.

He was unemployed and one among his brothers who stays overseas used to ship cash to cowl the household’s wants, the SP stated. Kumar’s one other daughter Shyam Bhawani was at her aunt’s house in Tapovan on the time of the killings. According to the SP, Kumar is a local of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh. His mom was mentally unstable.
