The Indian markets languished in Thursday’s session, with financials dragging the indices.
The S&P BSE Sensex was trading 453 points, or 1.2 per cent, lower at 38,160 levels and the Nifty50 index slipped below the 11,300-mark. ICICI Bank, down 3%, was the top Sensex loser, followed by IndusInd Bank, Larsen & Toubro, and ONBC (all down over 1%). On the other hand, IT stocks — TCS, Infosys, and HCL Tech — were amog the few Sensex stocks trading in the green.
The trend among Nifty sectoral indices was largely in the red, with the Nifty Bank, Nifty Financials, and Nifty Metal indexes all trading over 1 per cent lower.
The broader market, however, were trading in the green, with both the S&P BSE MidCap and the SmallCap indexes trading half a per cent higher.
