The UCLA Bruins are scheduled to be back in November. The Pac-12 CEO Group voted to return to competition starting in November.

The Pac-12 CEO Group announced today that based upon updated Pac-12 COVID-19 Medical Advisory Committee recommendations that take into account material changes to testing capabilities, the prevalence of COVID-19 and cardiac issues, along with updated state and local health official guidance, the Conference will resume its football, basketball and winter sport seasons.

The Pac-12 announced that the season for football may commence without fans in the stands on November 6 and the men’s and women’s basketball seasons can start on November 25. Their decision to return to sports came when the Pac-12 CEO Group met with the Pac-12 Medical Advisory Committee and was presented with a new and updated health and safety recommendation list as well as the reviewing of the daily, rapid-results testing program announced with the conference’s partnership with Quidel.

While UCLA still needs certain local health guidelines to continue to coincide with their return to the field, AD Martin Jarmond issued the following statement on the Bruins return:

“UCLA Athletics is pleased with today’s decision by the Pac-12 to allow a return to competition as soon as is safely possible with the guidance of health experts and public health agencies. We’ve heard the voices of our student-athletes and are grateful for the leadership and guidance of the Pac-12 Covid-19 Medical Advisory Committee, which has methodically and thoughtfully helped navigate a path forward with daily, rapid testing on the horizon. We appreciate the collaboration and support from state and local health officials as we work with them on future plans to ramp back up and get ready to compete. The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and staff – as well as that of the entire Bruin community – will continue to be a top priority.”

Access to practices and games will be at a premium this season due to obvious reasons and we at Bruins Nation will absolutely do our best to keep everyone updated on the Bruins.

Here’s hoping for a healthy and happy return to the field.

We’ll be here. We’ll be ready.
