Mastercard Sports Sponsorship – Indian Badminton Players Mastercard: Mastercard is aggresively looking to ride Indian sports wave for the next phase of their growth in the country. Indian Badminton Players Mastercard: As winners of the Thomas Cup 2022 and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, these new ambassadors will partner with the company to spread awareness about safety, security, and convenience of digital payments in India.
This partnership, the company said, is in line with the efforts of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Digital India.
Earlier this year, the company had signed up Shiv Kapur to enhance its leading panel of golfers, which also includes Anirban Lahiri as brand ambassador.
Globally, the company said, it was deeply invested in sports from tennis to cricket to soccer to e-sports, with badminton now added to the list.
Similar to the key role played by its brand ambassador MS Dhoni, the badminton stars will be a part of its ‘Team Cashless India’ campaign, which works with merchants and cardholders to create awareness of the safety, security of digital payments.
Nikhil Sahni, division president, South Asia for the firm, said, “Creating awareness about the convenience and safety of digital payments in India is a top priority for the firm. Lakshya Sen said, “I am humbled and grateful for what I have been able to achieve, from growing up in Almora, Uttarakhand, to putting India on the world stage in badminton. I am honored to serve as an inspiration to millions of Indians by partnering with them to tangibly demonstrate the benefits, ease and safety of digital payments, which I have experienced firsthand.”
BCCI New Title Sponsor – Mastercard BCCI Sponsor: Mastercard will also be the new TITLE Sponsor for the Indian Domestic and International Cricket at Home. BCCI has decided to accept PayTM’s request of transferring the title rights to global payments and technology company Mastercard.
The series against World Champion Australia in September will be Mastercard’s 1st series as Title Sponsor of the BCCI.
It is learnt that India will play Australia in Mohali (September 20), Nagpur (September 23) and Hyderabad (September 25). India will round off their World Cup preparations with three more T20 against the Proteas in Trivandrum (September 28), Guwahati (October 1) and Indore (October 3).
This series will be followed by three ODIs against the South Africans. Title RIGHTS of all these series will now be passed on to Mastercard from PayTM.

- Paytm had signed the deal for ₹326.80 crores in 2019.
- The deal was suppose to continue till 2023
- The winning bid was ₹3.80 crore per Match. This was at 58% incremental value in comparison to the previous per match value of ₹2.4 crores.
- In 2015, Paytm for the 1st time became title sponsor of Indian cricket.
- Now PayTM has requested BCCI to assign the rights to Mastercard.
