SHILLONG | JULY 26, 2020:

The Seng Samla Shella (SSS), has written to the Director of Health Services – Medical Institution (DHS-MI), complaining about the non-availability of health facilities at Shella Public Health Centre (PHC) especially in times of Covid-19 crisis.

In a letter, it stated that the people in the area have been suffering for almost a year due to non-availability of doctors, ambulances, basic facilities, and medicine.

The SSS also stated that the non-availability of health facilities in the PHC has become a major concern, especially in case of emergency.

While expressing disappointment, the youth organization stated that people in the rural areas who can’t afford to go to private hospitals or clinics have no options but to opt for government-run health centres, most of which function without the basic facilities.

In view of this, the SSS has requested the authorities to look into the matter and come up with necessary actions that need to be initiated immediately.
