MUZAFFARNAGAR: An 80-year-old man in UP’s Muzaffarnagar has given his immovable property price round Rs 1.5 crore to the state governor. The man, Nathu Singh, a farmer, claimed that his son and daughter-in-law had not been treating him properly and therefore, he didn’t need them to inherit his property.
Singh, a resident of Biral village in Muzaffarnagar, at the moment lives in an old- age house. Besides his son, he has three daughters. He stated he doesn’t need both of his kids to inherit his property and had “filed an affidavit to hand over the property to the UP governor with a request that after his death, the government opens a school or hospital on the land.”
Speaking to TOI, the octogenarian stated, “At this age, I should have lived with my son and daughter-in-law but they did not treat me well. That is why I made up my mind to transfer the property to the governor so that it can be properly utilised.”
Rekha Singh, in-charge of the outdated age house, stated that Singh “was adamant and had filed an affidavit on Saturday to give his property away”. “He says he does not even want to let his family attend his last rites,” she added.
Meanwhile, the sub-registrar at Budhana Tehsil, Pankaj Jain, stated, “The elderly man’s request has been registered. He has disclosed his residential house, 10 bighas of his farming land, and immovable assets worth Rs 1.5 crore in the affidavit. It will come into force after his demise.”
