MUMBAI: Sixty nine people were arrested during a police raid on a hookah parlour at Oshiwara early on Sunday. Among the accused were 65 customers, the manager of the establishment and three waiters. Twenty eight women were rescued.
The raid was carried out at 3.30am.
Police sources said guests– some of them wearing masks– were partying at the establishment. Obscenity charges were applied by the police as some were found to be “dancing in an obscene manner“. Police are investigating reports that the party organiser had sent invites to everyone via WhatsApp. Other violations included smoking hookah illegally and violatin of lockdown guidelines.
There were reports that a cop had also been partying at the establishment before the raid. The raiding police team said they did not come across any.
