WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Commissioners adopted a resolution declaring racism a public health crisis.
Commission Chair Julia Olson-Boseman put forth the resolution, which passed by a 3-2 vote.
It calls out general inequities and the impacts of discrimination and systemic racism on the health outcomes of people and communities of color.
The resolution said the county will seek to promote racial equity through policies approved by the board.
