JAMMU, Nov 20: NHPC has invited functions from eligible candidates for scholarship underneath “NHPC sports scholarship scheme’ for upcoming sports persons for 16 games including Football, Kabaddi, Hockey, Boxing, Archery, Athletics, Shooting, Cricket, Swimming, Wrestling, Volleyball, Bridge, Table Tennis, Chess, Badminton and Para sports.
These scholarships are aimed to be given to promising young players between the age of 14-19 years (14-24 years for para sports) with a view to encourage their talent and create a talent-pool of sportspersons during their formative years of education.
There is the provision of maximum 32 numbers of scholarships in the above mentioned 16 games (2-scholarship in each game) in two categories i.e. “Elite Scholar” and “Scholar” based mostly on the fulfilment of required standards.
Scholarship will probably be given throughout three years. “Elite Scholars” will obtain Rs.12000/- monthly for the primary 12 months, whereas Rs 13000/- monthly for the second 12 months and Rs 14000/- monthly for the third 12 months. “Scholars” will obtain the scholarship of Rs.9000, Rs 10000 and Rs. 11,000/- monthly for 3 years respectively.
