The most pace restrict for four-wheelers on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) shall be 100 kmph, whereas motorbikes, autorickshaws and tractors will not be allowed on the ocean bridge, the police mentioned on Wednesday.

The MTHL, also referred to as Atal Setu named after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, shall be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12, the Chief Minister’s Office has mentioned.

According to an official, automobiles like vehicles, taxis, mild motor automobiles, minibuses and two-axle buses may have a pace restrict of 100 kilometres per hour, he mentioned. The pace shall be restricted to 40 kmph on the ascent and descent of the bridge, he mentioned.

The Mumbai police have imposed the pace restrict on India’s longest sea bridge to curb “danger, obstructions and inconvenience to the public”, the official mentioned.

The Rs 18,000-crore MTHL originates from Sewri in Mumbai and terminates at Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka in Raigad district.

Multi-axle heavy automobiles, vans and buses heading in direction of Mumbai will not have an entry on the Eastern Freeway, he mentioned.

These automobiles must use the Mumbai Port-Sewri Exit (Exit 1C) and take the MBPT Road close to ‘Gadi Adda’ for additional motion, he mentioned.

There shall be no entry for automobiles like bikes, mopeds, three-wheelers, autos, tractors, animal-drawn automobiles and slow-moving automobiles, he mentioned.
