“With the lofty goal of making Tamil Nadu as the ‘Sports Capital of India’ and to ensure that sports talent from Tamil Nadu succeed in Olympics, four Olympic Academies will be established in Chennai, Madurai, Trichy and the Nilgiris to provide world-class training in various sports including badminton, volleyball, basketball and athletics. Apart from providing world-class training, they will also serve as Centres for Sports Science,” Thangam Thennarasu mentioned.
As per the minister, a Kalaignar Sports Kit containing 33 gadgets of train and sports activities gear, together with for cricket, volleyball, soccer, badminton and silambam, could be offered to each village panchayat of Tamil Nadu.
