India’s wind power industry has failed to reach its potential and should be given “due priority” compared to a solar sector that has grown much faster, said a group of lawmakers that heard national 2022 renewable energy targets are set to be missed.
A report by India’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy found “an impression that solar energy has been prioritised over wind energy despite heavy dependence on imports in [the solar] sector”.
The committee cited a near doubling of wind capacity in India to 40.7GW
