Wood, along with his wife, Jennifer, and former business partner Greg Rinaldi opened Trappers II at 101 N. Main St. in Minoa in 2010. Known for its outdoor volleyball leagues and food, including pizza that was nominated as some of the best in Upstate New York, Trappers II quickly became a popular spot in Syracuse’s eastern suburbs.

Jen Wood announced her husband’s passing Saturday in a Facebook post on the Trappers II page:

To our beloved patrons, it is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our fearless leader and owner Aaron Wood. He is the heart of our establishment. Over the years Aaron and I have poured our blood, sweat, and tears into T2 but we did not do it alone. Aaron surrounded himself with exceptional “T2 family” members. We will grieve for him and we will all mourn together this great loss, employees and customers alike. Nothing could honor Aaron more than continuing to strive to make T2 the best family/friend gathering place it can be. 💚 forever. Love to all, Jen Wood – Owner/Wife

Along with owning Trappers II, Wood was known for his leadership in the Eastwood Neighborhood Association, including stints as the group’s president and vice president. Both he and Jen were instrumental to the annual Eastwood 5-Mile Run, with Jen serving as race director and Aaron as emcee.

Wood also worked as a financial advisor with UBS Financial Services and sat on the board of the Downtown YMCA.
