The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested a person working within the Indian embassy in Russia for his alleged involvement in anti-national actions with the Pakistani intelligence company ISI. The accused, recognized as Satendra Siwal, was arrested from Meerut.
According to officers, Siwal was offering the ISI with necessary confidential data relating to the strategic actions of the ministry of defence, the ministry of exterior affairs, and the Indian army institutions, reported PTI.
Siwal has been working as an India-based safety assistant within the Indian embassy in Moscow since 2021.
The incident got here to gentle after the UP ATS acquired intelligence from a number of sources suggesting that ISI handlers have been luring staff of the ministry of exterior affairs with cash to acquire confidential data. According to the police, the knowledge is prone to pose a giant risk to the interior and exterior safety of India.
Upon the inputs, the police started a probe by way of digital and bodily surveillance. During the investigation, the police discovered that Siwal, a resident of Shahmahiuddinpur village, was concerned within the anti-India community. Following this, the UP ATS summoned Siwal for interrogation.
During questioning, Siwal failed to present “satisfactory” solutions and confessed to the crime, reported PTI.
The police have registered an FIR in opposition to Siwal below part 121A of the IPC (waging conflict in opposition to the nation) and Official Secrets Act 1923.
Further investigation is underway.
