JALANDHAR: New sports, education and NRIs affairs minister Pargat Singh on Friday said that two crucial sectors — education and sports — would be revitalised further as per the present needs so that youngsters could excel in both the fields at national and international level.
After taking guard of honour at the Circuit House, Pargat said he would try his best to finetune both these sectors. “Requisite reforms will be brought in and a special movement would be started in villages to connect rural folk with sports activities. It would act as catalyst against the drug menace,” he said.
Recalling Punjabi diaspora’s role in state’s development, he called upon them to join hands with the state government in this campaign to take Punjab’s development to a new scale. The minister added that special committees would be formed to get inputs from renowned professional and technical experts to make functioning of both the departments more effective.
