PITTSBURGH — Pitt junior linebacker SirVocea Dennis and senior offensive tackle Carter Warren were honored by the ACC today for their performances in the Panthers’ 27-17 victory over Clemson this past weekend.

Dennis was named the ACC Co-Linebacker of the Week, while Warren was honored as Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week.

He made one of the game’s most crucial plays early in the third quarter with Pitt holding a 14-7 lead. With a Tigers drive reaching midfield, Dennis intercepted a D.J. Uiagalelei shovel pass, returning it 50 yards for a touchdown to put the Panthers up, 21-7. Pitt held a double-digit advantage the rest of the game.

In addition to his pick six, Dennis had four tackles. He ranks second for Pitt with 41 stops on the season.

Warren was Pitt’s highest-graded offensive lineman in the Clemson victory. He did not give up a sack and was frequently at the point of attack for a rushing game that churned out 162 yards.

In other news, sophomore safety Brandon Hill was named one of 12 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, presented to the best defensive back in college football. The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame announced the semifinalists Monday.

The Panthers’ starting strong safety, Hill leads the team in tackles (46) and pass breakups (six). He has one interception, a game-clinching pick in Pitt’s 41-34 victory at Tennessee last month.

This past Saturday, Hill keyed the Panthers’ 27-17 win over Clemson by compiling a team-high 11 tackles and three pass breakups, both personal bests.
