Joe Biden took a short break from being president on Monday to concentrate on being “pop”, attending his granddaughter Maisy Biden’s commencement from the University of Pennsylvania.

Maisy is the youngest daughter of Hunter Biden and his former spouse Kathleen Buhle, who each attended the ceremony.

Also current had been Maisy’s older sisters, Naomi and Finnegan, and first girl Jill Biden, and the Bidens’ daughter, Ashley Biden.

Before the graduation, some college students waved on the president and took pictures. He waved again and pumped his fist.

But apart from that, Mr Biden was simply one other face within the crowd, albeit a really recognisable one. The household sat stage left, other than the remainder of the viewers.

Idina Menzel, the actress and singer, gave the graduation handle, even belting out a number of strains of a music from the musical Rent.

After the ceremony, Mr Biden and his household went to a lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant.
