Gamers looking for something new to try out this weekend have a couple of great choices on the PlayStation Store.
New game experiences are released weekly by Sony, with plenty of fresh third-party demos and trials available today.
This new crop of free PS4 games can be downloaded right now, although some of them are limited in scope.
Sony likes to keep its digital lineup stocked with new trials and demos and this weekend is no different.
So for anyone who owns a PS4 console and wants to try something new, there are options to pick from the PSN.
Something that has just been added to the PSN is the Desperados III demo, which has already had over 100 reviews on the digital storefront.
Desperados III launched back in June 2020 and comes highly reviewed on platforms like Steam.
The real-time tactics game was developed by Mimimi Games and published by THQ Nordic across PS4, Xbox and PC.
The Desperados demo is available to download today on PS4 but it will require around 9GB to install, making it a pretty hefty trial pack.
There doesn’t appear to be any time limits included, with the official game description explaining:
“Desperados III is a story-driven, hardcore tactical stealth game, set in a ruthless Wild West scenario.
“In this long-awaited prequel to the beloved classic Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, John Cooper will join forces with the runaway bride Kate, the shady hitman Doc McCoy, the giant trapper Hector, and Isabelle, a mysterious lady from New Orleans.
“On Cooper’s quest for redemption, his adventures lead him and his gang from rural towns, over swamps and riverbanks, and finally to a dramatic showdown worthy of Wild West legends.
“Play smart if you want to succeed. A good plan can make the difference between survival and finding yourself at the business end of a pistol.
“Drifter, gunslinger, and natural leader Cooper can kill quietly with a knife, or take out multiple foes with his revolvers. Strongman Hector carries a giant bear trap and can slay the toughest opponents with his trusty axe.
“Cold-blooded bounty hunter McCoy likes to be methodical, using lures, knockout gas, poison syringes and a custom long-range pistol. Kate can fool almost any man with the right outfit, and kills discreetly with her hidden gun.
“And then there is this mysterious woman from New Orleans, Isabelle… Combine your team’s special skills to overcome each tough challenge in your own style.”
Another top choice for this weekend of free game action is available right now but will be disappearing soon.
This includes the final Marvel’s Avengers open beta, which ends later today, August 23.
While gamers will only have a short time to download and play today, it will certainly be worth a look.
The full game experience will cost money and is scheduled to launch during September 2020, across multiple platforms.
You get to squad up and play in the role of one of your favourite Avengers, as you look to take down AIM and rebuild the world’s trust in the famous Super Hero Team.
It should be noted that you will need a Square Enix Members account to participate in the Marvel’s Avengers BETA.
This process is used by the Square Enix to validate pre-order codes and content, as well as to deliver post-launch content, like new heroes, new missions, and new regions at no cost.
It’s another loop you have to jump through but should leave with something new to play this weekend.
