If Wilson can get its entire starting lineup on the football field at the same time, there’s no telling how good the Bulldogs can perform.

After missing a week with a knee injury, quarterback Kaleb Brown returned to run for two touchdowns and throw for another Friday night to lead Wilson to a 35-8 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 victory over Penn Manor at Gurski Stadium.

But the Bulldogs played without receiver Troy Corson and running back Mason Lenart because of injuries. And Jadyn Jones, who rushed for more than 200 yards to help the Bulldogs make up for the absence of Brown last week, went out early in the second quarter with an injury and did not return.

“It’s giving other kids chances to learn the offense and step up,” Brown said. “When we get deep in the season when they come back, we’ll have more depth.”

Brown rushed for a touchdown and passed for another in the second quarter when Wilson (2-0, 2-1) erupted for 21 points to pull away from Penn Manor (0-2, 0-3).

Brown made a key fourth-down run in the first quarter to keep a Wilson drive alive to set up an 11-yard touchdown run by Jones. But Jones exited early after carrying 11 times for 50 yards.

“We were a little sluggish in the beginning,” said Wilson coach Doug Dahms. “We’re still only clicking on a couple  of cylinders. Hopefully we’ll get everybody healthy and get everybody back within the next couple of weeks.”

Brown and Gavin Lenart, Mason’s younger brother, carried the offense in the second quarter. Brown weaved his way 39 yards for a touchdown and Gavin Lenart followed with a 24-yard TD run to give Wilson a 21-0 lead with 1:07 left in the first half.

Wilson got the ball right back and went 51 yards in five plays to make it 28-0. Brown hit Sean Dendall with a 12-yard touchdown pass with seven seconds left in the first half.

Wilson took the second-half kickoff and went 66 yards in eight plays. Brown finished the drive with a 1-yard run, and Jack Wagner made it a mercy-rule game by converting his fifth extra point.

Brown finished with 115 yards rushing and completed 12-of-25 passes for 134 yards.

“He’s a big playmaker,” Dahms said. “He made some nice runs and threw the ball well.”

Penn Manor avoided the shutout when quarterback Luke Braas scored on a 1-yard run and threw for a two-point conversion with 1:20 left.
