The Baltimore Ravens have a very talented group of their own players who are slated to be free agents at the end of the 2021 season. Because of that, the team might need every one of the 10 draft picks they currently own, including nine in the top-four rounds.

Baltimore has been one of the best drafting teams over the course of their franchise history, finding a balance between identifying needs while also taking the best player available. In his latest 2022 NFL mock draft, Josh Edwards of CBS Sports selected a player at every first-round slot, and for the Ravens at No. 28 picked Austrian offensive lineman Bernhard Raimann out of Central Michigan University.

“I have tossed around the idea of including Bernhard Raimann in the first round for weeks and finally decided to take the plunge. He is an athletic player who still has some consistency issues to work through, but he is not raw.”

At this point Raimann is projected all over the place, but he’s an extremely talented player who would provide Baltimore with solid tackle depth, as he has played left tackle for Central Michigan since 2020. However, the offensive line is still very new for Raimann, as he spent his first two collegiate seasons as a tight end, and before that was a wide receiver. He put on over 50 pounds between 2019 and 2020 to gear up for his move to offensive tackle.

During his brief time playing at left tackle, Raimann has used his athleticism to his advantage while showing great football IQ, balance, mobility and flexibility. However, his hand placement, anchor, and more skills need refining, as would be expected from someone who is still learning the position.

The 6-foot-7, 305 pound giant has the potential to grow into a great offensive lineman at the NFL level, and is a worthy investment for any team who is looking for offensive line help. However, with being such a raw prospect right now, the end of his 2021 season will go a long way to determining how high he will go in the draft.
