A meeting between Reading School District Superintendent Dr. Khalid Mumin and officials from four other school districts to make plans for moving fall sports to the spring was postponed Friday.

The Allentown School District, which was part of the original group, voted late Thursday to proceed with fall sports.

Mumin plans to meet with superintendents from Cheltenham, Harrisburg and Pottstown at a later date. Like the Reading School District, each of those districts suspended fall extracurricular activities due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Extracurricular activities at Reading High were suspended earlier this month.

The PIAA opened a window for moving fall sports to the spring at its Aug. 21 meeting, voting 30-0 to allow schools that have suspended extracurricular activities to hold them in the spring.
