Fox Sports had a graphic error during Game 2 of the ALDS and renamed Kiké Hernández ‘First Last Name’ when the Red Sox player hit a game-tying home run

Fox Sports 1, which has broadcasted the first two games of the Red SoxRays ALDS series, debuted a new look for their on-screen graphics, and the reveal has had a few road bumps.

First, during Game 1, the Rays were renamed the Tamba Bay Rays, with a B:

Maybe the B stands for Budget.

Then, in the second game of the series, as Kiké Hernández hit a game-tying home run to even the score at 5-5. But if you’re not familiar with what Hernández looks like, you might not have known it was him, since the graphic decided to rename him First Last Name.

Baseball Twitter had a field day with that one, to the point that “First Last Name” was trending.

First Last Name, aka Hernández, had an incredible night at the plate. He went 5-for-6 with three doubles, the home run, three runs scored, and three RBI. Sox Notes, which is run by Red Sox Media Relations, announced that Hernández is the first Red Sox player ever to record four extra-base hits in the postseason.

The Red Sox social team were understandably hyped:

According to MLB Stats, Hernández is only the second player in franchise history with a five-hit postseason game, and one of three Sox players ever with a home run and two doubles. The other two? David Ortiz and Jason Varitek. That’s elite company for someone in their first season with the club.

After being shut out in Game 1, the Red Sox combined for 14 runs on 20 hits – a franchise record for hits in a postseason road game – and set a new franchise record by hitting five home runs in Game 2. They’ve tied the series at one game apiece and now head home to Fenway, hopefully for a repeat of their Wild Card game.
