“You know, we’re at a venue where Bruce Springsteen played the last time I was there and I made the point that the reception he got from the community, which was a very broad-based community from the Indian diaspora, welcomed him very strongly. It’s as simple as that.
“So, I welcomed prime minister Modi to Australia, as I welcome different company to Australia as properly.”
During PM Modi’s visit to Sydney in May, Albanese referred to him as “The Boss” and compared his popularity to that of legendary rockstar Bruce Springsteen, who is also known by his fans with the same title.
Addressing an event held for the Indian diaspora at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Anthony Albanese said, “The final time I noticed somebody on this stage was Bruce Springsteen and he didn’t obtain the type of welcome that Prime Minister Modi has obtained. Prime Minister Modi is certainly the boss.”
