India and Pakistan lock horns in Asia Cup 2022 group fixture on August 28.
The Star Sports advertisement promoting ‘Mauka Mauka’ as a build-up for the cricketing rivalry between India and Pakistan has garnered a lot of interest and likes from passionate cricket fans over the last few years. It was first aired ahead of the 2015 World Cup clash between the arch-rivals at the Adelaide Oval.
Now, the cricket fans are in for a shock as Star Sports has decided against making this advertisement ahead of theAsia Cup 2022 clash between India and Pakistan on August 28. The upcoming Asia Cup might witness both teams locking horns with each other on more than one occasion courtesy of the format of the tournament.
No Mauka Mauka ad for Asia Cup 2022?
According to reports in Cricket Pakistan, the ‘Mauka Mauka’ advertisement was made to make the Men in Green aware of their forgettable record against India in World Cups with the 1992 world champions failing to win even a single encounter. The report further states that the ad has lost its relevance after India’s 10-wicket loss at the hands of the Babar Azam-led side in the last year’s T20 World Cup in Dubai and therefore, the advertisement will not be aired anymore.
After the group stage encounter between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on August 28, the two sides might face off against each other once again on 4 September in the Super 4s, and if luck permits they could also meet in the final which is scheduled on September 11.
After the Asia Cup, the India-Pakistan rivalry heads to the next level as both teams are scheduled to lock horns in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 group fixture at the iconic MCG on October 23.
After their 10-wicket drubbing in the T20 World Cup 2021, the Indian team would be hoping to come out all guns blazing in the Asia Cup and all eyes will be on the form of skipper Rohit Sharmaand batting megastar Virat Kohli respectively.
