With the arrest of Showik, the noose around Rhea is getting tighten with NCB likely to summon Rhea on Monday to question her in connection with her brother showik’s drug dealings. Showik and Samuel are likely to be booked under the NDPS act and will be produced before the court on Saturday.
NCB on early Friday morning had carried a search of Rhea Chakraborty’s house in Santacruz as Showik used to stay with her and Rajput’s manager Samuel Miranda’s house for their alleged nexus with drug peddlers. Both were taken to NCB’s office at Ballard Pier in South Mumbai and were grilled.
A five-member team of NCB carried out a massive search of Rhea’s house at Santacruz west as well Samuel Miranda’s house in Sahar Village early Friday morning and seized several documents including laptops, hard drives and a few other digital pieces of evidence.
They are questioning Showik’s and Miranda’s alleged nexus with drug peddlers particularly Zaid Vilatra and Kaizan Ibrahim.
Officials had stumbled upon Showik’s name in the WhatsApp chats between the drug peddlers. Zaid as well the detained suspect Kaizan Ibrahim has told that they used to supply drugs to Showik who in turn used to supply the same to Samuel Miranda. There are also reports that Showik has used Rhea’s credit/debit card to make few payments to these drug dealers.
“During the voluntary statement arrested accused Basit Parihar has not only admitted to have purchase and sale of marijuna, he said he used to procure drugs from arrested accused Zaid Vilatra and Kaizan as per instructions of Showik and was directing them to deliver it to Samuel,” stated the remand application of Basit Parihar.
It further stated that it is clear from various statements and electronic evidence gathered by NCB, he ( Basit Parihar) is an active member of a drug syndicate connected with high society personalities and drug suppliers. He used to receive and pay money via Google pay account.
Sources said that this is a clear indication of Showik’s involvement in the drug cartel and now the NCB officials are confronting Showik and Samuel Miranda with each other to corroborate what Zaid and Kaizan have told officials.
Meanwhile, another drug peddler Basit Parihar (23) was produced before the Esplanade Metropolitan magistrate court and was remanded to NCB custody till September 09.
“I am surprised. These are youngsters from affluent families and how the NCB is branding them as drug peddlers. They have been remanded in custody though nothing has been recovered from them and the sections under which they are arrested are bailable,’” said lawyer Tarak Sayyed.
“Basit has given many names with whom he was dealing in drugs and the purpose is NCB custody is most essential and crucial which may have to main players in drug syndicate. If NCB custody is not granted the investigation may be hampered to a great extent. NCB is investigating drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput case and therefore it highly substantive and needs to be investigated thoroughly so as to uproot drug citadel in Mumbai specially in Bollywood,” stated the NCB remand application.
The NCB had on Wednesday arrested Zaid Vilatra resident of Bandra and recovered Rs 10 lakhs worth Indian as well foreign currency which the officials said are proceeds of the drug peddling. Zaid’s arrest came during the interrogations of two accused-Abbas Ramzan Ali Lakhani and Karn Arora on Saturday from whom they recovered 59 grams of marijuna from their possession on Saturday.
