NEW DELHI: Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was declared match by the Indian cricket board (BCCI) for the upcoming seventeenth version of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that begins on March 22.
On Tuesday, BCCI posted on X: After present process an intensive 14-month rehab and restoration course of, following a life-threatening highway mishap on December thirtieth, 2022, Rishabh Pant has now been declared match as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming #TATA @IPL 2024″

But Mohammed Shami was ruled out of the tournament.
The Board issued the following medical and fitness updates:
“After present process an intensive 14-month rehab and restoration course of, following a life-threatening highway mishap on December thirtieth, 2022, close to Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Rishabh Pant has now been declared match as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming TATA IPL 2024,” BCCI said on Pant.
On Mohammed Shami, the BCCI said, “The quick bowler efficiently underwent surgical procedure on February twenty sixth, 2024, for his proper heel downside. He is at the moment being monitored by the BCCI medical staff and is dominated out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.”

On Monday, Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting had provided insights into the team’s plans for the return of Pant.
