JACKSON TWP. Remember Tinseltown USA, the 15-screen movie theater at The Strip with those cool recliner seats that actually showed movies before COVID-19 erupted?

There’s big news, movie fans.

Tinseltown will reopen Friday, with an array of new safety measures in place, as part of parent company Cinemark’s “test-and-learn process” before reopening its entire chain of theaters nationwide.

For starters, Tinseltown will be showing “Comeback Classic” films at a reduced ticket price of $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. The movie lineup starting Friday includes the summer blockbusters “Jurassic Park,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Back to the Future,” “Jaws,” “Ghostbusters” and “The Goonies,” along with two 2020 titles, “The Invisible Man” and “The Hunt.”

Among safety measures guests can expect to find at Tinseltown:

– Movie show times will be staggered, seats will automatically be blocked between groups, and auditorium capacity will be limited to maximize physical distancing.

– Face masks are mandatory for guests throughout Tinseltown and may be removed only for eating and drinking inside the auditoriums.

– All public and high-touch spaces, such as concession stands, door handles, drink stations, self-ticketing kiosks, benches and restrooms, will be sanitized every 30 minutes using products identified by the EPA to be effective in eliminating COVID-19.

– Each auditorium will be disinfected every morning, and all handrails and occupied seats, along with those on either side, will be sanitized between shows. Seat wipes and hand sanitizer will be available for customer use.

– To reduce potential contact between cash and food-handling areas, cash payments will not be accepted at the concession stand.

Movie studios have postponed such previously announced new summer releases as Disney’s live-action “Mulan,” Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” and sequel “Bill & Ted Face the Music.”

Cinemark has not announced opening plans for its other Stark County theaters, Carnation Cinema 5 in Alliance and Cinemark Movie Bistro in Jackson Township.
