Aimed at selling inclusivity and offering specialised coaching to para athletes within the nation, the federal government has determined to induct 200 such athletes, together with 97 ladies, throughout 10 disciplines within the SAI National Centres of Excellence, Sports Anurag Singh Thakur introduced on Tuesday.

Out of 200 athletes, 68 (35 males, 33 females) shall be archers and 36 (18, 18) shall be in athletics.

Cycling may even have 10 male and as many feminine athletes.

Thakur mentioned the success of the inaugural Khelo India Para Games in New Delhi was a major step in direction of offering equal alternatives to all athletes.

“This initiative of inducting 200 Para Sport athletes in NCOEs will give additional momentum to the evolution of para sports activities inside the sports activities ecosystem,” he said.

“The NCOEs will have expert coaches and be equipped with enhanced facilities.”

India had returned with its greatest hauls from each the latest Paralympic Games and Asian Para Games.
