The Ministry of Home Affairs Thursday directed the Jammu and Kashmir administration to grab all property and freeze financial institution accounts and funds belonging to the pro-Pakistan separatist amalgam Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and Muslim League Jammu Kashmir, headed by separatist Masarat Alam.
Both organisations had been lately banned by the federal government.
Tehreek-e-Hurriyat was based by late separatist chief Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 42 of the UAPA, the central government hereby directs that all powers exercisable by it under section 7 and section 8 of the said Act shall be exercised also by the state governments and the UT administration in relation to the above said unlawful association,” the MHA notification mentioned. Section 7 of the UAPA is said to energy to ban the usage of funds of an illegal affiliation and the Section 8 is said to energy to inform locations used for the aim of an illegal affiliation.
