Two days after halting all summer sports practices due to concerns with meeting the revised Illinois High School Association guidelines, sports are a go again at Seneca High School.
The school released via its Twitter account Tuesday afternoon:
“Seneca HS is ending the suspension of summer athletic contacts days. Each coach has issued an approved practice plan that meets the new guidelines. Tomorrow coaches and teams may resume summer workouts. Coaches will contact their athletes as to when or if they will resume.”
Athletic Director Steve Haines said Monday the temporary halt was put into place for safety reasons but would be rescinded on a sport-by-sport basis following a coaches’ meeting Tuesday.
“Coaches are being asked to bring forth ideas,” Haines said Monday. “If they would like to proceed with summer activities, they have to show me a practice plan for how they can have no contact [and practice] with masks and social distancing.”
