GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) – Sharing Health Education and Awareness (SHEA), a marketing campaign beneath the Mississippi Public Health Institute targeted on enhancing well being amongst Black moms, infants, and households on the Gulf Coast, partnered with Black woman-owned companies and nonprofits to host a neighborhood child bathe Saturday on the Orange Grove Community Center.

During the occasion, new and expectant moms acquired assets for his or her infants, reminiscent of diapers, bibs, and burp cloths, in addition to details about breastfeeding, tobacco cessation, lively dwelling, and the significance of flu vaccination.

The child bathe was a collaborative effort to assist the event of stronger, more healthy households throughout the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Kenzi Jones, Mississippi Public Health Institute Program Director, says there’s a nice want for assets like this on the Coast.

“African American women have some of the highest health disparities. So, we want to make sure that we are providing them with educational material and resources to help alleviate some of those burdens. As well as just the wonderful resources that we have for their new upcoming bundles of joy,” Jones stated.
