Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol is confident that United won’t give up on Jadon Sancho. Talks may take a turn soon as well.

Borussia Dortmund has been adamantly sticking to their £108M asking price for Jadon Sancho. This is why reports have come informing us that Manchester United may back out from their interest. But Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol is confident of United’s interest in the young winger.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a known admirer of the England international. So when United was in need of reinforcements up front, Sancho was his first priority. But Borussia has been a hard nut to crack, they have been firm on their price. Even with the pandemic causing trouble for many clubs, Dortmund doesn’t seem to care.

Sancho has a very impressive tally in the season that just ended. In all competitions for Borussia, Sancho has 20 goals and 18 assists. This has been the key attraction for the youngster. Many clubs did show interest in signing him, but the fee kept them away.

United was hoping that Sancho will be available at around £80M. But even with the £108M price, Red Devils did propose to pay in installments. Borussia on the other hand was pressing for £90M upfront. Hence, the deal seems to be hitting rock bottom. But Solhekol feels that United won’t be giving up too easily.

Borussia expect him to stay the next season as well

Dortmund chief Michael Zorc has made it clear that they don’t want to sell their ace. He even adds that they look forward to playing him next season as well. But Solhekol thinks otherwise and takes a formidable example to support his claim. Back in 2017 as well, when Barcelona was tracking Dembele. The club was reluctant in selling their winger.

The situations were somewhat similar to that of the Sancho deal. Michael Zorc did say that they were not willing to sell the winger. But within a few months, the club had sealed a deal for him to fly to Catalonia. So Solhekol can be right about not taking Zorc’s word as an assurance. This does give United more hope of landing the versatile winger.

In addition to that Sancho is also keen on returning to the Premier League. The youngster left for Borussia three years back and feels like he wants to return. Which may be the reason for him rejecting to extend his contract with the German side. Sancho has been firm on his stand of not signing an extension if a transfer does not happen this summer.

Manchester United will still try to pursue the deal. Also, there were rumors of the Old Trafford club opting for alternatives. But that seems to be out of the discussion as well. Ole has been keen to sign Jadon and won’t be looking to sign an alternative.

Chelsea can be relieved

United may still not change their focus from Sancho, so Havertz is safe for Chelsea.
United may still not change their focus from Sancho, so Havertz is safe for Chelsea.

With the Sancho deal is a stumbling block, United was thought to look for alternatives. And the best alternative to match Sancho was Kai Havertz. The Chelsea target is also looking to exit Bundesliga this summer. So there were speculations of Ole and co turning their attention towards him.

But Kaveh Solhekol is confident of Havertz’s interest to join Chelsea. This has been a huge sigh of relief for the Chelsea supporters. United have already been raising funds for the Sancho signing. So with the deal tempting to go sideways, they may look for alternatives.

Which is why Havertz came to the picture, Bayer Leverkusen has been asking £90m for him. The price unlike Borussia can be negotiated to a lower bar. Hence, United was thought to be able to cross Chelsea to sign him. But the scenario can change anytime, the football market is always changing. So let’s stay calm and see what takes place soon.
