His counterpart, Wanindu Hasaranga has been equally brilliant with the ball. In the last game against the Netherlands, Hasaranga claimed three wickets for just 9 runs in his four overs. Overall, he has 6 wickets in 3 matches. Besides, the fast bowlers too have done a decent job and Sri Lanka should feel proud of that.
On the other hand, Bangladesh began their ICC T20 World Cup 2021 campaign with a defeat at the hands of Scotland. However, they bounced back strongly and won their next two games against Oman and Papua New Guinea.
In their last game against Papua New Guinea, Shakib Al-Hasan, once again, starred with the ball. He was brilliant both with the bat and ball. Bangladesh batted first in that game and Shakib Al Hasan made 46 runs off just 37 balls, including 3 fours. Mahmudullah also played an outstanding knock of 50 runs off just 28 balls to help his team post a formidable 181-run total.
Shakib Al Hasan ripped apart the Netherland’s middle-order to leave them reeling at 29 for 7. The former Bangladesh skipper finished his figures with 9 for 4 in 4 overs. Saifuddin and Taskin Ahmed picked two wickets each, while Mahedi Hasan returned with figures of 1 for 20 in 4 overs.
Much like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh too have a strong bowling unit. The fate of the game, therefore, is going to be decided on who bats well on a slow and sluggish track of the Sharjah on Saturday. Looking at the batting units of both sides, we are backing Sri Lanka to win the game.
