In what might be the most-Wellington of ways to deal with Covid-19, craft beer and public health have finally become one.
Taranaki St bar Hashigo Zake is offering a 10 per cent discount on craft beer this Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday to anyone using Rippl or the government Covid- tracing apps.
Bar owner Dominic Kelly said it was just an idea that he thought up on his way to work on Monday and he did not know if it would be extended.
The idea came out of recent fuss about people not using the apps.
“It just seems a pity, all the effort people put in, especially in level 2, might be wasted with a bit of apathy.”

He was also putting QR codes at tables, where he thought people would be more-likely to use them, as well as at the door.
The number of people using the NZ COVID Tracer app have dwindled in recent months.
Ministry of Health figures show there are 591,000 registered users of the app and 1,367,121 poster scans to date.
From June 9 to 15 there had been 229,437 scans but from June 30 to July 6 this had reduced to 67,312 scans.
Health Minister Chris Hipkins last week said officials wanted to see the number of people using the app increase.
“These numbers are low, and we do want to lift our game here. That is going to require, again, the team of five million to play their part and make sure they are using those posters.”
