CENTURION: South African bowlers outclassed India within the Boxing Day Test securing victory by an innings and 32 runs on day three. India’s second innings fell quick at 131 runs in 34.1 overs with solely Virat Kohli (76) and Shubman Gill (26) reaching double figures.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a duck by Rabada marking the 14th time the bowler has taken Sharma’s wicket. Other Indian batsmen struggled; Yaswasi Jaiswal (5), Shreyas Iyer (6), KL Rahul (4) and others didn’t make an affect.

Despite Kohli’s regular efficiency, lack of assist from teammates led to India’s defeat. For South Africa, Andre Berger claimed 4 wickets whereas Marco Janssen and Kagiso Rabada took three and two wickets respectively.

Earlier within the match, South Africa posted 408 of their first innings with Dean Elgar top-scoring at 185 and Marco Jansen contributing an unbeaten 84. Among Indian bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah stood out with 4 wickets. The collection now sees the hosts taking a 1-0 lead, with the ultimate Test scheduled in Cape Town on January 3.
