SP Charan, son of SP Balasubrahmanyam, issued a statement regarding his father’s health. In his statement, Charan said that his father is on a ventilator, but in stable condition. He further added that SP Balasubrahmanyam is undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at MGM Healthcare Hospital in Chennai. SPB got admitted to the hospital on August 5 after he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Charan also thanked the people who prayed for his father SP Balasubrahmanyam’s recovery. His statement read, “Thanks a lot for all your concern and enquiries about my father’s health. He is in ICU under ventilation. His condition is stable. Don’t believe rumours. We will keep you updated about his progress regularly. Thanks again (sic).”
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Vijaybhaskar took to Twitter to reveal that he enquired about SPB’s health with Charan and the MD (Managing Director) of the hospital. Vijaybhaskar also assured that the government would help him in recovery.

When the news about SP Balasubrahmanyam being critical broke, celebrities and his fans across the country prayed for his speedy recovery. Many people took to Twitter to share their feelings about SPB and his timeless hit songs.
On August 5, SPB released a video from the hospital explaining his condition. In the video, he said that he had a mild fever and chest congestion. When he decided to get himself tested for the novel coronavirus, his results turned out to be positive. Though the doctors advised him home isolation, SPB decided to get himself admitted as his family members were concerned.
His health condition worsened on the night of August 13 and was put on a ventilator. The hospital issued a statement saying that he has been shifted to the ICU and his haemodynamic and clinical parameters are being closely monitored.
The entire nation is praying for SP Balasubrahmanyam’s recovery. The legendary singer has over 40,000 songs to his credit and holds the Guinness record for recording highest number of songs.
