Srichand Parmanand Hinduja, the eldest of the 4 Hinduja brothers and chairman of Hinduja Group, died in London on Wednesday. He was unwell for a while. He was 87.

The Hinduja household patriarch and his brothers, Gopichand and Prakash, have been accused of receiving practically SEK 81 million in unlawful commissions to assist Swedish gunmaker AB Bofors safe an Indian authorities contract. A courtroom had nonetheless exonerated them.

“Gopichand, Prakash, Ashok and the whole Hinduja family with a heavy heart regret to announce the passing away of our family patriarch, and chairman of Hinduja Group, Mr S P Hinduja today,” a spokesperson for the household stated.

A British nationwide, he died in London.
